In collaboration with three rural Ecuadorian communities, Shane facilitated the creation of an archive of recorded music and stories containing elements of indigenous language and culture. Each of the participating communities possesses a distinct relationship to their indigeneity due to the regional differences of the history of Spanish colonization (ie, the Andes mountains versus the Amazon rainforest), and ongoing colonial legacies such as "blanqueamiento," or (social, political & economic) "whitening."  This archive of recordings form part of the diverse range of cultural preservation efforts maintained by each group, and supports their continued resistance and resilience.
